The voiceover Queen?
I really enjoy this brief history coverage about Rod Serling. Thank You for covering this so we can experience the neighborhoods too!❤
Oh yeah i just recalled the other guys name was Judd Takanaka.
I spent a summer with a couple of boys from there at the army cadet camp in Vernon BC. Either 1958 or 1959. Dennis Mori was one of them. Right now ive forgotten the name of the other guy. Hi guys.
Lots of great memories in that clip.
the still shot of the Morgan Building plaque took me down a rabbit hole of information where I eventually arrived at the supreme court case Schenck v. United States. Awesome stuff. thanks for the video.
You should’ve shown the beech musketeer ct ll or it wasn’t there at the time of this video it’s in the snowbirds gallery
My favourite thing there is the ambulance and it flashes
A true hero.
Thames Fish and Chips. If you were there, you know. Excuse me while I cry my eyes out!!!
Well well no so von Werra returned to Germany via South America and was flying again but wasn’t shot down! In 1941 when over English channel his new Bf109 F experienced engine problems and von Werra attempted to get back but was forced to ditch plane in North Sea and was never seen again! Btw. That was in early 1941 before Barbarossa invasion of UdSSR.
Did you know that vocalist miss karen carpenter was an 8th grade english teacher at corning free academy from 1978-1979, met her boyfriend, Karen was 28 and her boyfriend was 13, but no physical contact took place. they were going to elope on feb4 1983 but she died of a diabetic coma instead. heartbreaking
He wasn't shot down in 1943 another total wive's tail to add to the Franz von Werra claimed stories !! But he died on the 25.Oct 1941 due to mechanical failure when his Bf 109F just malfunctioned and crashed into the Sea while on a routine flight ......Fact not Fiction
@sukrod - thanks for sharing this! I will have to go there to pay tribute and YES "Walking Distance" is one of my most favorites of all time too! The visuals, acting and musical scores are amazing! Love also: "A Stop at Willoughby", "Changing of the Guard", "Night of the Meek", too amongst others! These have very deep emotioanl ramifications to the human heart and family! Sad Rod died young. Imagine what he could have accomplished with 20 more years? 👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Pretty interesting coming back to a local video 11 years later
He was shot down in Kent, 12 miles away from where I live
What an AWESOME video. Thank you.
Canadian Pacific g2 #2634 is built in 1913 by the montreal locomotive works
A lot of the funding was raised by the good people of Canonsburg. Saris prepared chocolate bars which were sold towards the fundraising. A committee of local residents worked very hard in planning the total event. A luncheon was held in celebration and some of his grandchildren and a great nephew provided part of the entertainment. Canonsburg remains a warm and welcoming town, proud of the local boys who made good!
The best singer of them all and that’s saying something, because there is and was plenty of good singers.
He was and still is my favourite singer. His voice was so clear and perfect,
Yes me too Irene.
I think Canonsburg did a wonderful job in its tribute to Perry. He was a friend and absolutely wonderful, humble, and talented singer and performer. He was a shining example of what everyone should strive to be, what you saw is what you got, he is without a doubt the most wonderful friend a person could ever have, Perry we miss you, Love Jeff and Linda.
Thank you for sharing that! I grew up with my grandparents playing Perry's music. And I Love You So is beautiful.
Awesome...I remember it well.
Dad was a tank commander in the GGFG during WWII. He spoke freely of his experiences in WWII. He met a school teacher in Holland who helped provide information from the underground regarding German activities in the area, (ambushes and the like) that saved many Canadian lives. Later her daughter moved into our neighborhood, and in passing conversation found out that our neighbor's mom was that school teacher. They had a lovely chat almost 30 years later when her mom came for a visit! Small world! Anyway, a belated RIP, sir. Thank you for your service.
nice memories! went to the Junior High from 67 to 69 ..

I just visited James Dean’s hometown a few weeks ago, it’s a beautiful place. I collected some wildflowers and placed it on his grave. R.I.P. Jimmy Dean 🌼🌷✨

Thank you for your video, It was amazing!!
Amazing video!!! Thanks for sharing!😌
This is the kind of place I dreamed of growing up in but didn't because I grew up in Downtown Vancouver--totally different after 45 yrs., lots of high rises, but my old elementary school is still there--Lord Roberts! Chilliwack is like a 'breath of fresh air'!!
across the street from the theater was also my favorite haunt, 1961-1967, the pool-hall....so many good time hours spent there!
Seriously, the road looks A LOT WIDER than nowadays! I stood there watching the Paramount came down...
When you look at what’s going on today in this PC mad world , you wish for the simpler peaceful times that this movie depicts.
I seem to remember the Brite Spot Cafe in the 1960's. When did it go out of business. Paramount was a wonderful place to watch a movie as a kid. I also definitely remember Roddy's restaurant.
Sure does bring back memories. I worked at the A&W for three years after finishing school. fun times! Not much choice in jobs back then.
Your father in law was Roy Edwards, I believe.
@@sukrod Sorry Roy was not related to my husbands family. My husband said Roy used to be a customer of theirs though.
Love this!!
born 1993 raised in chilliwack since later that year ive been alive here for 26 years. i dont trust anyone my age anymore...
Hope is still a beautiful place, was there in June of 2017.i hadn't been there since the 70s.still felt like it used to,still friendly. The mountain views are heavenly!
Hope you come back again and show the many places and events Corning has to offer......I've lived most of my life there/here...... Oh....And Don't forget to Cover Watkins Glen, Hammondsport and Ithaca in your travels.... The southern finger lakes rocks....Check out The TAGS summer concerts in Big Flats for a really good time.
well done. thank you
I went to High School there. Lived on a farm close by. Never really heard of Dean too much then. It only became a tourist destination much later. Pretty quiet town then. They use to play East of Eden in the Gym every year. This in the early 70's. My Dad knew the Winslows. I remember talking to my math teacher about the grave stone. I never saw it till later. Told me there wasn't much left of it. I know it was replaced a few times. The original never had the lipstick kisses on it. They are permanent to those that think they are not. I went to the new HS out on the Highway. Madison-Grant they called it. The HS Dean went to was a Jr HS then. I went with my girlfriend who was an 8th grader - I was 9th - to sockhops in the gym where Dean played Basketball. All gone now.
Thanks very much for bringing a local perspective to an international image. I enjoyed my trips there on several occasions because the countryside is very similar to where I grew up fifty miles east of Vancouver. James Dean and River Phoenix both had similar careers of great promise cut short by early deaths. I think Fairmount has been wonderfully respectful in terms of the tourists that innundate the small town. I stopped in front of the home and Marcus came out and spoke to my wife and I. That impressed me a great deal. Wonderful family.
He came to one of our assemblies. I remember it as if was yesterday. He was really short. 5feet 6inches. Binghamton and its surrounding areas are mentioned in a few of the programs including Cortland, Ny. His favorite teacher was Helen Foley who died about 2000 and was named in an episode. She was the drama teacher at Binghamton High School. I wish Binghamton was like it used to be. Does anyone know when the trolley's left. I know it was many many years before I was born.
@Margaret Kearsey - Hi Margaret 🙂 I do not know of the trolleys. I just commented on this video and thought I would share with you too. thanks for sharing this! I will have to go there to pay tribute and YES "Walking Distance" is one of my most favorites of all time too! The visuals, acting and musical scores are amazing! I am so sorry for your family’s hardship! It is so sad how man’s inhumanity to man as the Bible puts it. Thankfully soon Gods Kingdom will soon bring justice and peace to all mankind uniting us all under a fair and just heavenly government.
